Oregon (5-1) vs. Washington State (5-1) Game Preview
One Reason Why Oregon Will Win
They won the game they had to have.
Yeah, the Stanford loss might have been ugly, and it hasn’t always been smooth, and Washington wins if it hits the kick in regulation, and …
The Ducks are getting exactly what they’re supposed to out of its star, the lines are physical, and they’ve got the pieces to keep up in a shootout with the team that’s clicking, too.
Justin Herbert didn’t have his best game in the win over Washington, but he didn’t throw any picks, he took what the Huskies gave him, and he’s about to turn it loose.
Washington State was able to shut down the Utah passing game, but USC’s JT Daniels had a game, and … that’s been about it when it comes to the good quarterbacks the Cougar secondary has faced.
Yeah, Wazzu is great at generating pressure, but the Oregon O line is great at keeping Herbert upright and give him time, and he’s able to come through averaging close to ten yards per throw. He’s pushing the ball, and he’s about to give the Cougars at taste of their own medicine if this gets into a firefight.
It’s not just about getting yards. This is a brutally efficient passing attack that’s amazing at keeping the chains moving. Washington State – even with its style – is all about ball control, and it’s not going to own the tempo.
One Reason Why Washington State Will Win
Oregon secondary … good luck with this.
Yeah, the defense has been strong, and it’s been tough, but the secondary hasn’t faced a who’s who of quarterbacks. When it did face a big-time passer, Washington’s Jake Browning was solid last week in the crazy environment and under pressure.
Stanford’s KJ Costello might not be an elite playmaker quite yet, but he was on down the stretch in what turned out to be an amazing performance.
Welcome to Gardner Minshew.
Wazzu was able to get the right guy to step in and take over the attack, with the heady veteran throwing for over 400 yards in four of the last five games, hitting 69% of his passes, and throwing 19 touchdown passes with just four picks.
And now, the Cougars have had two weeks off to rest up while preparing for this.
The quick-hitting passing game should be able to keep things moving against a secondary that hasn’t dealt with anything like this, and the Cougar D should be able to generate pressure and get into the backfield. As good as Washington’s defense is, it doesn’t get behind the line and didn’t pressure Herbert enough.
The Cougars will.

What’s Going To Happen
It’s not going to be a letdown for the Ducks as much it’ll be a big moment for Washington State.
Getting two weeks off to prepare for this will be a big deal, with Minshew and the passing game coming out hot in a crazed environment that just took on a bigger level. Now, Oregon is the big dog on the Pac-12 North, and that can be Wazzu with a win.
Minshew will be terrific, the defensive line will frustrate Herbert, and for all the good things Oregon has done so far, the storyline of next week will be Washington State, setting up a massive showdown at Stanford to follow.

Sunday is a day of rest for most people but in Oregon there will be a game of basketball being played. The game tips at 8pm EST and features the Oregon Ducks vs the Washington State Cougars. The point spread is Oregon -15 points and the total is 149.5 points. Here are our picks for the game – both side and total.
Oregon comes into the game with a solid record for a solid year of basketball. They are 16-8 SU but only 11-12 against the spread. They average 78 PPG on offense and allow 70 PPG. They have won 4 of their last 5 games.
Washington State has not had a great year on the hardwood. They are 9-14 SU and just 9-13 ATS. They score an average of 74 PPG and allow 78 PPG. They have lost their last 6 games, last beating Cal on January 13th.
Oregon Vs Washington State
Head to Head
We are using the last ten games these teams have played each other as the test sample. The Oregon Ducks absolutely own The Washington State Cougars in this period. Oregon is 9-1 SU and 6-4 ATS. They last played a year ago and Oregon won easily 85-66.
Wsu Vs Oregon 2018 Highlights
Washington State is just 1-8 ATS on the road. Oregon is just 7-9 ATS at home this season.
When playing a mutual opponent, the Washington Huskies in this case, Oregon beat Washington by 25 points (65-40) just two days ago. Washington State played at Washington and lost by 18 points (80-62).
All roads and signs are leading to an Oregon win and cover here. Washington State is really bad. This Washington State team is a far cry from the team that started 6-0 and was receiving national ranking votes. They are just 3-14 since winning The Wooden Legacy Tournament. Washington State has an inability to get to the free throw line. Wazzu shoots an absolutely abysmal .238 free throws per field goal attempt, the fifth-worst mark in college basketball. Their average margin of loss in their last 5 games is 20.2 points. I would bet against them being able to keep it closer than 15 points at Oregon. The smart money here is Oregon -15. Check out top rated sportsbooks for a chance to build your bankroll in time for March Madness. I would like to mention I also like the OVER 149.5 points. I can see Oregon scoring close to 90 points and Washington State scoring close to 70.
